Youth Anti-Violence Crime Prevention Campaign

In response to the recent epidemic of youth violence that has claimed the lives of dozens of our children in the past year, a new coalition of concerned youth and parents, public law officials, politicians, and members of the clergy got together to combat and address the senseless violence and social conditions that face youth in the city and across the nation.

To break the cycle of youth violence in 2008, and to address the trivial issues which caused the murders, the newly formed coalition Kids Off The Block, Inc., launched it’s "Save A Teen / Do Something" Youth Anti-Violence Crime Prevention Campaign on March 21, 2008.

The members protested against the gang-violence and rallied “to save our teens and provide them the resources to change their lives “literally”, and combat violence on a citywide level” during the anti-violence march from 111th Michigan Ave. to 116th Michigan Ave.

Later in the day, the youth participants of the prominent community based youth organization based in the Roseland Community, and others got together for a Spring Break Juke Jam, and Video Shoot.

The new city-wide youth ant-violence crime prevention campaign is projecting to also “develop sustainable processes and relationships that will address the violence, and social conditions that face youth in Chicago and across this nation.”

The group is in partnership with the City of Chicago, Park National Bank, Community Assistance Programs (CAPs), Chicago Police Department, and CAPS Implementation Office, Roseland Youth Safety Network Coalition, and St. John Baptist Church.
