"Local Media Left Behind"

The July 3, 2006 issue of The Nation contained Ethan's article, "Local Media Left Behind," about the effects of media consolidation on low-income communities. As Internet-driven media provide middle-income people with an increased number of news sources, Ethan wrote that low-income families were finding fewer options. "Today's media universe allows those who can't afford access to slip into a separate and unequal world of second-class information," Ethan wrote. "We must amplify the voices of the voiceless, both as subjects and as authors."
