Media Ownership by Minorities

On June 4, Mary met with the FCC commissioner Jonathan Adelstein to discuss media ownership by minorities. Mary addressed issues such as the predominately white owned music stations that are geared towards African Americans. Mary mentioned the potential impact of media consolidation on CAN TV, the non-profit cable provider which broadcasts "Residents' Journal TV." Mary urged the commissioner to prioritize any initiative that could help women gain greater opportunities to compete for jobs in media organizations.
