A new season of RJ TV

A summary of the each show's topic from its commencement on April 7, 2008 to present:

April 7: Mary C. Johns, editor-in-chief of Residents' Journal spoke to Brian Gladstein from the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs on Human Rights Violations against the City of Chicago's poor and needy as it relates to housing and police brutality.








April 14: Ethan Michaeli, publisher of Residents' Journal spoke with Tom Walsh, from the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs about senior housing issues in the City of Chicago.









April 21: Residents' Journals' award winning senior reporter Cenabeth Cross discussed with Brenda Vega, program director of Chicago Public Arts Group, the group's preservation efforts to save a historic "All of Mankind" mural. The mural that's part of a church located in Cabrini Green pubic housing community is projected to be sold.






April 28: Mary C. Johns, editor-in-Chief of Residents' Journal talked solo about the Chicago Housing Authority's recent announcement regarding their plans to demolish the Harold Ickes Homes, which is contrary to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's determination for the pubic housing complex according to their recent Reinstated and Amended Moving to Work Agreement.

May 5: Residents' Journal senior reporter Michael Ibraham spoke to Bob Palmer, policy director at Housing Action Illinois, about affordable housing hardships and housing related social security issues.









May 12: Residents' Journal reporter and columnist Crystal Medina, spoke about her beginnings at RJ as a student of the Urban Youth International Journalism Program, freelance reporter, columnist and office assistant.

May 19: Residents' Journal Urban Youth International Journalism Program Instructor Kari Lydersen hosted solo. She talked about the program and some of the stories that the youths at Collins High School and Little Village Lawndale High School have recently written.

May 26: No show. In honor of the Memorial Day holiday.


June 2: Mary C. Johns and Cenabeth Cross, Editor-in-Chief and Senior reporter of Residents' Journal respectively, spoke about the recent upsurge in youth violence in low income communities. Cenabeth highlighted the Kids Off The Block program, which was founded by Diane Latiker in 2003. The program offers children in the Roseland neighborhood the opportunity to participate in positive activites and eschew the trouble beckoning them on the streets.
