    Kari Lydersen
    is a staff writer for the Washington Post out of the midwest bureau and freelances for various publications including The Chicago Reader and In These Times. She is also a journalism instructor at Columbia College and author of Out of the Sea and Into the Fire: Latin American-US Immigration in the Global Age (Common Courage Press, 2005)


    Jessica Pupovac
    is a freelance writer for a number of local and national publications, including AlterNet, In These Times, the Chicago Journal and the ChiTown Daily News. She has also worked as a human rights observer (in Guatemala) and an adult educator, teaching GED and ESL classes.

    Micah Maidenberg
    is a freelance writer for community newspapers in Chicago, has reported for publications in Virginia, California and New York in the past, including Harper's Magazine. He started teaching in the Urban Youth International Journalism Program in 2004. He has a bachelor's degree in sociology from Indiana University.
